D-Tyrosine(Cas 556-02-5) Usage

Description

D-tyrosine is the D-form amino acid of tyrosine. It is a non-essential amino acid.

Chemical Properties

white to off-white powder

Uses

D-Tyrosine, the stereoisomer to L-Tyrosine (T899975), is known to negatively regulate melanin synthesis by inhibiting tyrosinase activity. It is used in the synthesis of (-)-anisomycin, as well as BATSI (boronic acid transition state inhibitors) which act on β-lactamases. It has also been studied as an inhibitor of microbial growth on surfaces, reducing microbial attachment to hydrophillic glass and hydrophobic po lypropylene surfaces. Recent studies have shown that D-tyrosine inhibits the formation of biofilms by activated sludge microorganisms.

D-tyrosine adds an anti-melanogenic effect to cosmetic peptides

Jisu Park, Hyejung Jung, Bohee Jang, Hyun-Kuk Song, Inn-Oc Han & Eok-Soo Oh

Scientific Reports volume 10, Article number: 262 (2020)

In summary, we herein show for the first time that the addition of D-tyrosine at the C-terminus endows cosmetic peptides with an additional anti-melanogenic effect. We show that D-tyrosine-modified cosmetic peptides gain this skin-whitening effect while maintaining their original function and a commercially acceptable skin permeability.

Biofouling mitigation by D-tyrosine in membrane bioreactor: Short-term performance

Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering Volume 11, Issue 2, April 2023, 109554

In the presence of D-tyrosine, the removals of COD, nitrogen and phosphorus in MBR were not affected. The addition of D-tyrosine had little effect on the content of protein and polysaccharide in SMP, and could inhibit the production of EPS polysaccharides.
