DL-Glutamic acid(Cas 617-65-2) Usage

DL-Glutamic acid is used ito study its mechanisms of crystal formation and self-assembly on surfaces and copolymer development. It is an alpha-amino acid and a polar amino acid. It contains a 2-carboxyethyl group. It is a conjugate acid of a glutamate(1-). DL-Glutamic acid is the conjugate acid of Glutamic acid, which acts as a fundamental metabolite.

Chiral resolution of DL-glutamic acid by a chiral additive

Xin-hui Zhou, Qing Liu, Hai-shui Wang

Journal of Chemical Technology & Biotechnology, Volume97, Issue5 May 2022 Pages 1240-1246

Two strategies involving a chiral additive for the selective crystallization of only d-glutamic acid from a solution of racemic dl-glutamic acid (dl-Glu) are presented. One strategy is based on the addition of sufficient additive (l-arginine or l-phenylalanine with a mole fraction of 40%) and β-d-Glu crystal seeds, the crystal yield reaching 23–25%.
