Description |
D-tryptophan is a special kind of nonprotein amino acid showing multiple physiological functions. |
Chemical Properties |
white powder |
Uses |
D-tryptophan amino acid, as a non-reactive protein, has special physiological properties. It can be used as a non-nutritive sweeteners, feed additive, plant growth agents in food feed industry and agriculture. D-Tryptophan (D-Trp) inhibits bacterial biofilms and has been proposed for biofouling control applications. |
Definition |
ChEBI: The D-enantiomer of tryptophan. |
General Description |
White solid. |
Air & Water Reactions |
Slightly soluble in water. |
Fire Hazard |
Flash point data are not available for D(+)-Tryptophan, but D(+)-Tryptophan is probably combustible. |

This work was to investigate D-tryptophan physiological function and demonstrate the underlying mechanisms. D-tryptophan suppressed HaCaT cell proliferation but increased cell migration.
D-tryptophan was used as natural and safe additive for controlling artificially contaminated dairy products with E. coli O26:H11.
Recently, amino acid ionic liquids (AAIL...
